SovTech sweeps 2017 MTN Business App Award
Johannesburg, October 2017: This year’s sixth edition of the MTN Business App Awards saw SovTech scoop up the award for Best Education Solution for the innovative entrepreneurship app created for The Awethu Project.
As newcomers to the event, the SovTech team found themselves competing against an array of quality tech solutions produced in South Africa and not only did they take the win in the Education category, they were also placed as a top 3 finalist for overall Best App of the Year; solidifying themselves as a leading custom software platform for businesses in Africa.
SovTech’s Founder, Gerald Neves, exclaimed that he was completely blown away by the calibre of entries at this year’s awards, stating;

The Awethu Project Entrepreneurship app is aimed at educating 1 million people in developing economies on how to start and grow a business, with the primary objective of stimulating job creation through entrepreneurship. The app consists of an online entrepreneurship ecosystem (mobile and web) that facilitates the transfer of business knowledge and skills applied to a real world business case and monitored, cultivated and grown through a digital platform. The app was built as a skills development journey through the stages of building a sustainable business and services learners through onboarding (registration and screening), skills and business knowledge transfer (content delivery and testing), business development (business application and mentorship) and evaluation (tracking and performance measurement).
The app was also created as a learner management platform for the Awethu Team (content creators, support team, coaching team and platform administrators) to shepherd learners through the journey and to provide a holistic learner management and performance monitoring platform for each user case.
